Dreams

"Give Ourselves Hope" acrylic and flashe on 20 x 24" canvas in a natural strip frame.

"We dream to give ourselves hope. To stop dreaming - well, that's like saying you can never change your fate."

Amy Tan - The Hundred Senses

Much of my work is inspired by words, some, by the beauty of the natural world. This series encompasses both and adds the element of water. Shifting pigments in unpredictable ways, water creates new colors that aren’t expected. New forms I hadn’t planned on. These works have the same quality to me as dreams, both the sleeping version and the dreams we have while awake - the ideas we’d like to see happen. Our hopes for our loved ones and the world at large. Each step and every color added becomes something new to hope for, another direction to take, a possibility brought about from a dream.
